A Safe Pair of Hands When You Need It...

Established in 1997
, the Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy and Northwest Psychology Consultants are dedicated to providing a friendly, effective and professional service to our clients in comfortable surroundings. With Northwest Psychology Consultants becoming an offshoot and eventually matching The Liverpool Centre in size and importance, we can offer a wide range of services to our clients.

We have 8 Female and Male practitioners, who have a range of skills for most personal and interpersonal issues, if you are looking for an experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Counselling, we can help.

The driving force behind The Liverpool Centres formation was a desire to create a place of excellence, a move to reassure those seeking the professional help of a Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Psychologist.

We also wanted for this place of excellence to not be as out of reach in terms of affordability or distance as some centres of excellence are. We believe that we have gone a long way to achieving these goals.

Located in the heart of Liverpool’s medical consulting district in Rodney Street, we are easy to get to with plenty of parking within 150 yards. Our well appointed consulting rooms are designed to help create a comfortable and safe environment for our clients to work in.

Note: We do NOT use trainee counsellors, and the training undergone to become a practitioner at The Centre, must be of at least 4 years duration. So rest assured, you will be seen by an experienced professional, who will be supervised by Dr Ailis F Murphy (CPychol).

STATUTORY REGISTRATION OF PRACTITIONERS

Presently, it is sadly possible for ANYONE to call themselves a Counsellor or Psychotherapist, without any minimum standard of training or personal development.

This will fortunately change later in 2008, when Statutory Registration of Practitioners is introduced by the Government, to ensure a minimum standard of service to clients and provide greater protection.

Many counsellors and psychotherapists may cease to practice in 2008, because they will have insufficient qualifications to see clients legally.

We support this change wholly, and can reassure our clients and potential clients that ALL our practitioners have sufficient experience and qualifications to apply for registration to be able to practice under the new legislation.
